Nurturing the Human-Animal Bond

kennel manager, Kat, boarding dogsKat - Kennel Manager with OVH since 2010

Kat is a native to the Pacific Northwest who grew up in Lake Oswego and has always had a heart for animals. The four-legged loves of her life are Mico, the feisty Basenji mix, Penelope, the sweet Min Pin mix,  and the newest addition to the family, Miss Sophie (who is the world's best purr-bucket). Kat's absolute love of all animals shines through in her daily care-giving and nurturing of our guests here at OVH.

In her off-duty time, Kat and her husband Michael like to downhill ski, hike central Oregon, and go for long walks with their dogs. Kat enjoys cooking, sewing and making jewelry when she can find the time.

Josh  - Animal Caretaker with OVH since 2012

Josh

Josh was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Oregon in 2007 to attend the University of Oregon, where he received a degree in Biology. After graduation, he began pursuing a career in ecological research. From long days working in the field, he realized his true passion lies in working hands-on with animals. He has recently changed career paths and now plans to attend veterinary school. He moved to Portland for an internship at the Oregon Zoo and is now happy to be working at OVH, caring for all of our beloved boarders.

In his spare time he enjoys caring for his one-year-old black Labrador retriever, Kemba, who is a bundle of trouble but impossible not to love.  He also enjoys playing soccer, skiing, and Oregon Ducks football.
