What To Expect

At Oswego Veterinary Hospital, veterinary services are delivered with courtesy and respect!

As a new client of our hospital, located in Lake Oswego, Oregon, you can expect our full attention to your pet’s needs.

When you arrive for your pet’s medical appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we’ll usher you into an examination room after checking in your pet.

One of our veterinary technicians will start by asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor.

One of our veterinarians will then examine your pet, ask you further questions and may recommend diagnostic tests if needed. Once the tests have been run, which can usually be done in the practice, your doctor will discuss a possible diagnosis and treatment plan if warranted.

This is a great time to ask questions. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing.

Our veterinary technician will then wrap things up, providing you with helpful pet care information and answering any further wellness and care questions you may have. For your convenience and privacy (and so you don’t have to subject your furry or feathered friend – or children – to a bustling lobby), they will almost always process your payment in the exam room and schedule any needed follow-up appointments there as well.

Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.

We are excited to meet you and your pets! We strive to be as fear free and feline friendly as possible, so we encourage any nervous canine friends to visit once or twice prior to an appointment to meet our staff and have a few biscuits (or bring their favorite treat from home) in the lobby. Many cats are very fearful of any travel outside the home, but easing this fear starts with you days or weeks before their visit. Please visit our Feline Friendly page and review the information to see how you can help minimize your kitty’s stress both before and during the visit.

We also offer house-call visits, which many of our feline friends find MUCH preferable to being put in a carrier and toted off to what they see as The Great Unknown. House-calls are available for any pets, including geriatric and end of life visits.

Please let us know if your pet has had fear or anxiety at his or her previous veterinarian so we can help make their experience at Oswego Veterinary Hospital fear-free and… maybe even enjoyable. We’ve done it many times before!
